Elizabeth Ist

It was such a pleasure to welcome once again Rachel Duffield to our July meeting. Rachel is such a treasure, thirty-four of our members’ and guests’ enjoyed her presentation on Queen Elizabeth 1st from her Remarkable Women Repertoire. It was great to see so many of you on such a warm, sticky evening. We had very positive feedback from you all.

Rachel began the talk dressed in Tudor underwear and as the talk progressed got dressed ending up wearing a full demonstration Tudor costume based on Hillard’s Pelican Portrait of Elizabeth (1574). As Rachel donned the items of clothing and jewellery she talked about each item bringing in relevant information about their historical and social context. Although the tone of the presentation was light hearted her research is rigorous and informative. Rachel encouraged audience participation.

We are negotiating with Rachel at the moment for her to present “Marie Lloyd” to us at our January Buffet Evening. January 18th 2019 please put this date in your diary.
